Content updates

Pearl Abyss held their ball in the IRL.exe Heidel town of Beynac-et-Cazenac and told us where their sack is headed next.

We’re getting an expansion to the Land of the Morning Light region based on Seoul in a continuation of their Korean theme for the storyline. They showed us some live-action footage and claimed that playing BDO will be a drop-in replacement for visiting actual Korea, just like how we don’t need to go to France now that Heidel exists.

With LoML 2, we’ll get a new manor (see Lifeskill updates), Black Shrine 2 group bosses content (see Monster and spot updates), and access to the Sovereign weapons (see Item updates). It’s set to release in KR region on 7 August 2024.

Although some guildies were doing this anyway, visiting the new Demonland region will let us time-travel to the Era of Edana, where Valencia turns a lush green. They showed some awesome concept art and music but gave no ETA on when it’ll be ready.

A new hardcore Season server will be a fixed-gear Arsha: Anonymous-style Season server for people who don’t rilli need another PEN Tuvala set. Players start at level 60 and start with gear that gives 230 AP and 280 DP, upgradeable up to around 260/300. Here, potions are useable but buffs like food and elixirs are banned as is chatting and seeing people’s usernames. Death on the hardcore Season server means you go to jail and you need to wait out your sentence or kill other inmates to get out faster. At the end of the Season, you are given rewards based on a ranking system that is yet to be revealed.

The PEN showcase continued with a boundary-breaking announcement, well, sort of.

Sovereign mainhand and awakening weapons will be the new BIS weapons in the game, obtainable through content in Black Shrine 2 or by combining PEN Blackstar weapons. No Sovereign sub-weapon was announced.

Sovereign weapons will be craftable via three upgrade routes:

• Combining a PEN Blackstar weapon with a Primordial Flame, obtained via Black Shrine 2
• Combining a PEN Blackstar weapon, a PEN boss weapon with Caphras level 20, and a Gem of Twilight, obtained from upcoming content
• Combining two PEN Blackstar weapons

If it seems the bar’s pretty high to get there, then to helmp players on their way, J is giving everyone a free PEN Blackstar weapon. Details for getting this will be given later:tm:.

J rilli wanted Sovereign weapons to stand out so he made them have 10 enhancement levels above base and to number them all using Roman numerals, meaning after PEN, we’ll be able to enhance them further to HEX, SEP, OCT, NON, and finally DEC. This departure from the Slumbering Origin defence gear is rilli much vellcomed because not everyone can remember DesPRIate, DIstorted, TRIlent, WaIVing, ObViterated.

Sovereign weapons will be reformable with up to 5 reforms simultaneously, giving stat bonuses such as all AP and crit rate.

The Sovereign weapons will stand out further because they will be pretti. Enhance them to PEN for a glowy effect that becomes even more pronounced at OCT.

A new Asadal accessory set will be obtainable from Black Shrine 2 and Dekhia Tier 2 (see Monster and spot updates). These accessories will be the same tier as Tungrad accessories.

Monster and spot updates

Group content when? PA announced the continuation of Black Shrine with 5-person raidboss modes and Dekhia tier 2 in case regular Dekhia was too ez.

Black Shrine 2 will be 5-person raidbosses that are “easier than Atoraxxion”, according to J. They’ll also come with their own weekly rewards plus additional rewards if the entire party consists of members of the same guild.

Dekhia will be added to Cadry Ruins, Crescent Shrine, Gyfin Rhasia Temple, and Mirumok Ruins. Existing Dekhia spots will also get a tier 2 upgrade which is recommended 750 AP+DP and has weekly quests.

Lifeskill updates

Sadface for lifeskill enjoyers but to be fair there have been loads of QoL and lifeskill updates in the regular update cycle. Oh vell.

• Palace Management lifeskill

GoodLuck sceptics looked very sideways at the announcement that the LoML 2 manor will consist of multiple, separately investable nodes with distinct crafting functions. Players will get to choose which items they want to store and ignore and somehow it’s a lifeskill too. Bai don’t get it either, don’t worry.

Guild updates

Long-awaited guild content sort of materialised out of J’s Heidel Ball sack. Here are more ways to #playAloneTogether.

Guilds will be able to choose traits such as PvP, PvE, and Lifeskill and obtain fame by doing activities in those categories. J only gave the example of a PvP guild at the Ball, saying that PvE and Lifeskill guild activities will be given later. PvP fame can be obtained by doing Guild League, Node War, and other group PvP activities, and fame will also act as a matchmaking rating of kinds, ensuring that guilds with a similar fame are matched together.

Guilds will be placed into tiers based on their fame and the top tier guilds will get access to the Black Dragon that they hinted at last ball but not rilli. Other tier rewards include having chat effects, but not much detail was given on this.

Finally sword pipe guy!

• Dosa

Joining Uwuoosa and Maeguwu will be Dowosa, the third class rooted in LoML lore. He was gently teased in the balls previously. Dosa will wield sword and pipe weapons and will release on 3 July.

Finally, good news for PvP and cosplay enjoyers in these announcements that were rushed in the middle and at the end.

Regular seasons will begin for War of the Roses on 3 July and Arena of Solare on 14 July. Bai feel that they had the longest pre-season ever, especially AoS.

Terrmian and Sea Palace collide in this summer’s event where we’ll see a 4-way of Papu vs Otter vs Turt vs Myop. With it will come new summer Badakka outfits for everyone but not Shais, each of which will have a switchable “cape”. We’ll also be able to buy dances with our Pearls. The outfits release on 10 July ahead of the summer event on 24 July.
